Aunty Elaine George in Curve Rapport

Curve Rapport's September issue features Aunty Elaine George in its Change Makers series, written by our talent, Nikyah Hutchings — a First Nations journalist, producer and creative working across media, fashion and culture.

The piece traces Elaine's path from the first First Nations model on the cover of Vogue to three decades of making room for the creatives coming behind her. It's told by one of them, which is the part worth sitting with.

Blaklist creatives walked sixteen looks across Brisbane Fashion Festival 2026. Aunty Elaine George, Lead Mentor for Blaklist Next Gen and the first First Nations model on the cover of Vogue, walked eleven. Ieesha Caton, part of BL Next Gen: Talent, walked five.

An Elder who opened the door and an emerging creative walking through it, on the same runways in the same week. That's what the pathway looks like when it's working — not a program described on a page, but two generations of First Nations creatives on a national stage together.
