BLAKLIST Next Gen

BLAKLIST Next Gen is a nationally recognised First Nations creative pathway program, now in its third year, empowering emerging talent across Australia.

Launched in September 2023 for remote WA and NT communities, the program has grown into a national initiative, opening its discovery process annually at the end of the year.
Our mission is to create career pathways and development opportunities for the next generation of First Nations creatives.
Participants gain access to mentorship, professional guidance, and real industry experience — all within a culturally safe and supportive environment.

2026 Applications have closed. Next Gen 2027 applications will be open from 1 November 2026.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

peer Mentorship & Support

Elaine George, BLAKLIST Ambassador and Lead Mentor, guides the program alongside Peer Mentors from previous Next Gen cohorts, providing guidance, empowerment, and career advice throughout the year.

Training & Development

Next Gen offers a holistic program focusing on:

  • Personal branding and presentation skills

  • Hair and makeup fundamentals

  • Professional deportment and work ethic

  • Runway training

  • Media readiness and social skills

  • Community engagement and cultural practice

Eligibility

To be eligible for future programs, you must meet the following requirements:

  • First Nations creatives aged 18–25 years

  • New and emerging talent in the early stages of their creative careers

  • Individuals seeking structured mentorship, industry exposure, and professional development opportunities

This revised age requirement was been introduced in 2026 to align with new program direction and client guidance.
